At La Via Natura, sustainable development is more than just an approach, it’s a genuine commitment at the heart of our DNA. This year, that commitment was recognised and rewarded with the jury’s ‘Coup de Coeur’ award at the Sustainable Development Trophies, organised by the Fédération Nationale de l’Hôtellerie de Plein Air (FNHP). An honour that highlights our collective initiative and shared values.
Since its creation in 2007, the La Via Natura association has brought together independent campsites that share the same ethos: to offer an authentic experience in the heart of nature, while putting people and the environment at the centre of our actions.
This vision is embodied in a unique set of guidelines, drawn up collectively to guide our member campsites towards practices that are ever more respectful of the environment and people.
A few key figures:
- 10 themes covering essential aspects such as water, energy and waste management, and raising customer awareness.
- More than 150 concrete criteria: compulsory actions, advice and inspiring initiatives, known as ‘little extras’, to encourage you to go even further.
- An annual review to measure progress and set new objectives.
This collaborative approach, validated in 2022 and operational since 2023, has enabled all our member campsites to improve their practices while remaining true to our values: trust, consideration, generosity, solidarity, listening and sharing.
The jury’s ‘Coup de Coeur’ award recognises above all La Via Natura’s ability to develop a method that is effective, reproducible and beneficial for everyone:
- For our member campsites: a structuring framework that enables them to innovate, share their experience and pool their efforts to achieve even greater impact (e.g. installation of solar water heaters).
- For our customers: concrete, measurable and visible commitments, such as limiting the flow of water from taps, optimising water and energy consumption, and promoting human values through thoughtful gestures.
- For the environment: a tangible reduction in the environmental impact of our activities, while raising holidaymakers’ awareness of the importance of preserving natural resources.
In addition to its environmental benefits, this initiative strengthens the sense of belonging within our network. Each campsite can draw on the feedback of other members to make progress, while remaining true to its own identity.
Customer feedback also speaks for itself:
- Positive reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations;
- Growing loyalty, with itinerant customers discovering several campsites in the La Via Natura network in the same season.
This ‘Coup de Coeur’ award is an important milestone, but it does not mark the end. At La Via Natura, we believe that sustainable development is an ongoing process of reflection, questioning and collaboration.
Join us on this adventure: discover the campsites in our network and share an experience in harmony with nature and our values!
