Today we’re off to Peisey-Nancroix, in Savoie, in the Vanoise National Park, where Myriam and François welcome you summer and winter alike to the Les Lanchettes campsite. In between these two seasons, they have agreed to take part in an offbeat interview.
If you were an element of nature, what would it be?
If I were an element of nature, I’d be a glacier. Glaciers are fascinating elements of nature. They are masses of ice in constant motion, shaping the landscape over time.
Above all, glaciers play an important role in the water cycle and are essential reservoirs for freshwater supplies. They make a vital contribution to the ecological balance.
From our campsite we can see the Bellecôte, Platières and Mont Pourri glaciers…
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
If I were a superhero, my superpower would be to stop global warming; I’d be an environmental superhero, working to preserve the planet.
I could regulate temperatures to slow or reverse global warming. This could include the ability to cool specific regions or influence weather patterns.
I could neutralise greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping to reduce the impact of human activity on the climate.
I could protect vulnerable ecosystems, such as glaciers, forests and oceans, helping to maintain the ecological balance.
I’ll be raising awareness of the importance of protecting the environment, encouraging sustainable behaviour and reducing our carbon footprint.
As a climate superhero, I will be a defender of the Earth and an inspirational role model for awareness and action in favour of sustainability.
If you were a recipe, what would it be?
If I were a recipe, I’d be crozet gratin. It’s a Savoyard speciality that makes the most of the little square pastas called crozets. They can be made with wheat flour or buckwheat flour – my personal favourites!
Crozets are unusual and add an original touch to the cuisine. They can also be combined with crème fraiche, Beaufort or diced pancetta…. A dish to share with the family after a beautiful hike in our mountains.
If you had to describe your campsite in a song, which one would you choose?
The song ‘La Montagne’ by Jean Ferrat is a perfect description of my campsite. This poetic song evokes the majestic nature of the mountains and evokes a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere. It also captures the connection between man and nature, which can resonate with the experience of camping in the great outdoors.
The camping experience with us can be described as total immersion in nature, in harmony with the mountains, trees and rivers that surround us. It’s also the peace and quiet you find, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s a time to reconnect with yourself in an exceptional natural environment, enjoying the simple, fundamental pleasures of life.
If your campsite were an animal, what would it be and why?
If my campsite were an animal, it would be the wolf because it is free and independent.
As a wild animal, the wolf evokes total freedom. Our campsite can be compared to an escape to freedom, far from the constraints of everyday life.
Our campsite symbolises a deep connection with nature and a desire to explore wild territories.
What proverb or expression best defines your campsite?
Our campsite is best defined by the expression ‘The mountains win you over! Our campsite, surrounded by mountains, has a special power to attract and captivate those who discover it and it offers an immersive experience in nature, with the mountains as a majestic backdrop.
